...life in small Northern towns, working for assholes, boys who refuse to become men, synthetic personalities, anorexic models and their link to emotional scarring, bad marijuana trips, crazies on BC Transit, beer, piece of shit cars, living out of a suitcase paycheck to paycheck, unrequited love, Seinfeld, minimum-wage jobs, broken New Years resolutions, and over-limit Visa accounts.

Stage 3: Sneezing and Snotty It may only be mid-day Friday there in 'America', but it's already Saturday morning here in Oz and I'll tell you what... I still feel like shit, and have now progressed into full-on Stage 3 of my illness: Sneezing and Snotty. (Nummy) I'm annoyed and upset, to say the least. I had hoped for more from these drugs that they gave me, but apparently all my years of addiction have built an immunity against medicine in my body. Bugger. Ah, well... I'm still able to attain vertical status, so can't complain too much. I'm mainly just pissed that I'm not going to be at my absolute best for tonight's big game... but that's what MORE DRUGS are for!!! :) Can you say... Dayquil? The good news is that I'm fully stocked on my Wallabies Fan Paraphernalia now, so will be sporting a nice, warm gold & green toque/scarf combo at tonight's game. That should atleast help keep me from getting even more ill. I'm actually wearing the toque right now... GEEK! :) Sooooo early.... Sleeping in was an impossibility this morning, seeing as there's some kind of fecking JUNGLE outside the bedroom window today. Seriously. "COOOOCOCOOOOCOOOO" and "AH-AH-AHAHAHAHAHHHHHAHAHAHH!" I'm certain it's just birds making all the commotion, but it sure as hell sounds like a monkey out there with all the screeching. I don't think they have monkeys here in Oz..., do they? And I have no idea whether the roommate is home or not, but am crossing my fingers he's over at his girlfriend's house. Otherwise he's in his room tossing and turning, listening to me cough, hack and (HONK!) blow my nose every 30 seconds. On TOP of the 'Jungle Jamboree' going on outside. NNNNIIIICCCEEE. I don't think I've mentioned Damian's driving yet, have I? Hmmm... well, this is definitely something that requires notation. :) Simply put, he's psychotic. A frustrated Indy Driver in a 1980-something gold Honda Prelude. Thank Christ for Holy Shit Grips, which I have utilized several times since being here... in addition to bracing myself by placing both feet on the dash. Actually, to be fair, I don't think it's so much Damian as it is the fact that we're A) Driving on the 'wrong' side of the road which means that B) People are coming at me from the 'wrong' direction and always appear to me as though they're going to connect with us, and C) it seems that you're seldom driving in a straight line for more than 20 seconds, due to all the roundabouts. Roundabouts are a brilliant way of eliminating traffic signals and four-way stops, but they're also a bit terrifying. And dizzying at times, like when you do 8 in a row. At full speed. Damian has jokingly asked if I'd like to drive... uh, no thanks. I'd rather be curled-up fetal position in the passenger seat hanging on to the Holy Shit Grips for dear life than be placed behind the wheel here. I nearly killed myself in Ireland a couple times by pulling into the wrong lane... no desire to relive that experience. Anything else to report? Mmmmmm... I don't think so... Next week we're driving a couple hours North up to the Sunshine Coast to visit friends Slanty Kate & Luke - pretty pumped about that. Wish that we could continue on North to see Ken & Sal, but it's just not gonna happen this trip. :( Bingle. I'd love to see them, and to introduce them to Damian, but I guess it will have to wait for the next time... whenever that is. Time is flying by so quickly, I'm starting to get a bit panicked. One thing about vacations I hate is that as much as you want to do things and see lots of people, the more things you have planned the more quickly your time seems to pass. Does that make sense? Well, if not, piss off... it makes sense in my mind! :) Having said that... I'm gonna waste away a few hours now by trying to sleep some more... try to shake off this fecking disease. Take care, my pretties, and enjoy your weekend... |
